Good 'Til The Last Drop

Howdy Y'all!

I have been giving Harper a fork when I put fruit or vegetables on her tray, but I have never really given her a spoon before because of the mess I knew it could create.  However, I know she has to learn at some point so tonight was the night.  Enter one cup of greek yogurt, one spoon and one cute little girl.

She did pretty good if you ignore the yogurt on her face...and her leg...and her belly.  :)  I guess we should do it more often so she can get the hang of it.

15 Months Old

Howdy Y'all!

Look whooooooo's 15 months old!

It is so amazing how much she has grown in the last year.  She was such a little squirt back then - and now she is just a bigger "little" squirt.

Harper is growing into a funny, adorable little girl with a stubborn streak every now and then.  That every now and then comes out at dinner when she loves to throw food on the floor when she is done eating it...ugh!  However, all the giggles, hugs and kisses and all the funny things she does totally makes up for it!

She is wearing 18 month clothes and wears a size 5 shoe.  And, we are so excited about the changing weather so we can wear all of her cute long-sleeve stuff!

She is quite the chatterbox, but only on her own terms.  If you ask her to say a word, most likely she isn't going to say it, but she has about a 40-word vocabulary right now.  One of the newest words to that list is purple - it is cute hearing her say it over and over again.

Some of her favorite things are her Animal and Gonzo (from The Muppets) stuffed animals and her baby dolls.  She loves to put them to bed - she will lay them down on their stomachs, put a blanket over them, pat them on the back and then tell us to shhhh.  She will then wake them up immediately and start all over again.

Harper is still only rockin' 4 teeth, but I can see the 5th one on the horizon...but she doesn't let that get in her way!  She loves her food...especially yogurt raisins and fruit.  Her favorites change from day to day though so sometimes it is hard to keep up.

We are going to her 15 month appointment tomorrow so I don't know her stats, but I think she is somewhere around 26 lbs and 32 inches long.  I guess we will see how accurate I am tomorrow.

I can't believe the 15 months have flown by so quickly - we can't wait to see what the future holds!

Cutest Little Sous Chef

Howdy Y'all!

I grew up in a house where my mom was not really a baker or a cook, but I have certain memories about baking from my childhood.

My Memaw died when I was very young, but I actually vaguely remember baking with her.  Maybe my memories come from the stories I have heard, but I would sit on the counter and bake with her.

And, when my mom did bake, there was always the tradition of licking the beaters and the bowl.  My sister and I would have to share, of course, and I learned the trick that while the beaters were just cool, the bowl had much more to offer.  :)

I want Harper to grow up with memories like this too and it is never too early to make them.  I let Harper bang on the bowl with the measuring cups while I made some banana bread on Saturday and she had the best time.  I love making memories with her!

Hair-volution

Howdy Y'all!

I got a hair cut today and it just feels so refreshing.  I had been letting it grow, but I just thought it was kind of looking blah so I wanted to go back to my old trusty haircut.  However, it got me thinking about some of the hair styles I have had over the years - and I thought I would share some with you.  Hold the laughter until the end, please.  :)

For the first few years of my life - I had this cute little curly hair...

...then I decided to take scissors to it and created this mess.

And, maybe my mom was punishing me or something - but I had a mullet for the next several years.  Yikes!

However, if you thought the mullet was bad, check out my "Princess Leia" look.  It was time to grow out the mullet, but I guess I also talked my mom into getting me a perm.  This is just double yikes!  What you don't see in this picture is my long hair in the back that is pulled up in a ponytail.

Then it was time for the big hair days - unfortunately I don't have any good pictures from this era...but here is one where you can't see much so use your imagination.

For the first couple of years in high school, I had long permed hair and then during my sophomore year spring break, I chopped it to my shoulders.  My first major change.  I am not sure how I kept it so straight without the use of a flat iron...that is still one of my modern mysteries.

My senior year, I had an ugly haircut and it was totally my fault.  I am not sure what is going on here.

Then, during college I decided to chop it all off...it was the shortest it had ever been up until that point.

Most of my time in college and my first few years of my career, I had shoulder length "straight" hair...or as straight as it could have been without the use of a Chi.

I was then introduced to the Chi - and sleek straight hair (except for times of 100% humidity) was introduced to my life.

And, then came the bob...sometimes with blunt straight bangs, sometimes with bangs swept to the side and sometimes naturally curly.  I loved that haircut.

But, I also loved seeing people with long hair and looking at all the cute hairstyles they could do with it so I decided to let it grow.  Over the past year, I have been letting it grow and it seemed to be growing so slow.

So, today during my scheduled haircut, I decided to go back to old trusty...the bob.  Tony told me he loved it when I came home because he said when I wore my hair in a ponytail, I looked scary.  I don't really know what that means, but I am glad I rectified the situation.  :)

I even tried on some of Harper's bows and she got a kick out of it!

Glad you could step back in time with me and go through my hair-volution.  If you were holding back the laughter, go ahead and let it out now...I will laugh along with you.

Who's The Fairest of Them All?

Howdy Y'all!

Our little family made another successful trip to Texas this past weekend.  Harper is an expert traveler and is pretty much a Texan since we spend so much time there.  Among Harper's items she was spoiled with this weekend, her Aunt CiCi brought her a Snow White (mommy's favorite princess) dress and her Grandmother bought her a Snow White doll so she had to try them out tonight.

Two little princesses going for a stroll...

Pretty princesses reading a book...

Even a princess has to work hard to get her toys...

This little princess likes to pretend to be another princess every once in awhile...

Sweet princess Harper loves to play with toys especially when she makes daddy, the King, hold them...

Gosh, I love this little Snow White...

...especially when she makes these silly faces!
